Training for a towbar fitter is extremely important. With new vehicles,
more complex trim and electrics, a towbar fitter has to have a basic
knowledge of towbar and vehicle issues almost right from the start.
Understanding potential risk areas and the knowledge to work within
them is a key skill that all towbar fitters should be armed with.
Starting from within the workplace or from home using this well
structured and easy to understand correspondence course gives the
opportunity to start on this career path by gaining a solid introduction
to all the important facets of towbar fitting and positive progress
assessment.
Designed for: People who wish to start a towbar fitting
career, HR Managers, Owners and Workshop fitters who wish to commence
towbar fitting or have responsibility within their organisations
for training new workshop staff.
Summary: The course sets out a logical framework of standard
towbar fitting and wiring procedures and disciplines.
The delegates completes the different sections at their own pace.
Covering automotive electrical theory, tools and equipment, use
of test instruments, ‘best practice’ in towbar fitting,
towbar wiring and the safety issues surrounding vehicle and work
place preparation.
These sections are then tested with written questions and followed
with an important telephone interview assessment to confirm the
delegate's understanding of the course content and evaluate their
progress.
This course is certificated by the National Trailer & Towing
Association who represent the UK towing industry..
The course
can be used by workshop managers or managerial staff to mentor and
guide trainees through the course and quickly bring them up to a
competent workshop standard.
If you
are working from home or outside the towbar industry, and in addition
to the training course you would like to gain "hands on"
practical experience. We can arrange short term "work experience"
placements within independent towbar fitting companies.

practice - Installation of towbar, using hand tools, handling

practice - towbar electrics, relays explained, 12N installation
examples with relays and without relays. |

to CAN operation, simple checks for CANbus and bulb failure
vehicle systems.

installation, checks and safe power supplies. Currents and
voltage drops; the use of instruments. (eg Multimeters etc.)
