Towbar Fitting - Intermediate

Towbar Fitting & Towbar Electrical Wiring
Many vehicles today have new electrical management systems and the special discipline of towbar fitting and wiring is becoming very important. Basic understanding of potential risk areas and the knowledge to work within them is a key skill that all towbar fitters should be armed with.

Designed for:
Reasonably experienced workshop fitters and team leaders who have responsibility within organisations for towbar fitting and wiring.

Summary:
This course provides a balanced combination of theory and practical activity. The delegates will cover basic automotive electrical theory, practical use of test instruments, "best practice" in towbar fitting, towbar wiring and a full appreciation of the safety issues surrounding vehicle and workplace preparation.

The course will also cover the theory of split charge relays, self-switching relays, bypass relays, their operation, history and towing applications. We will familiarise the delegate with the function and correct use of relays in todays vehicle systems.

An important part of the intermediate course is to raise awareness of the new vehicle multiplexed CANbus (Computer Area Network) electrical systems and how to recognise and work with them.

A core aspect of this workshop is to provide a forum for interactive troubleshooting discussions about real work towbar fitting and wiring situations.

On successful completion of the course an NTTA certificate is awarded.
